So says the motto of the USS Hampton, SSN-767, a Los Angeles Class fast attack submarine. This is where MMN1 (SS) Christopher Kirk Collazo, founder of Silent Service Solutions, spent six of his eight years of service in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged.
While Collazo boasts his naval ties, he comes from a military rich family. His maternal grandfather retired from the US Army as a Colonel and his paternal grandfather retired from the US Navy as a TMC (SS) after serving 24 years on submarines. Collazo ultimately hoped to follow in his footsteps to make Chief, but soon realized life had other plans for him. After completing his eight-year contract, a series of major health setbacks, all service-connected, swiftly landed him back in civilian life with a lot of questions and even more frustrations.
After a thyroid cancer diagnosis, a total thyroidectomy, radioactive iodine treatments, bilateral total hip replacements, and injections for several other spinal diagnoses, Collazo became well-versed with the challenges many veterans face after their time in service. Despite these setbacks, he saw an opportunity to utilize his specialized skillset in a separate field than nuclear chemistry and radiological controls (his in-rate specialty in the Navy). He decided to set out and learn everything he could about the most advanced medical technology and figure out how to make it readily available to fellow vets.
In many ways, the OR can be as brutal as the battlefield. Today, Collazo helps veterans prepare for their personal medical battles by offering top-tier medical technologies, with the desire to find peace of mind and body.
